Valery Likhodey started his career at Khimki, from where he later moved to CSKA Moscow. Also in his career were the Russian Triumph, Spartak, Lokomotiv-Kuban, UNICS and Ufimets, as well as Nyavezhis (Lithuania), Orlandina (Italy) and Anvil (Poland).
He has won international competitions such as the Junior Euroleague (2004), the FIBA Challenge Cup (2006/07) and the European Cup (2012/13). He became the top scorer of the European Youth Championship (2005), participated in the PBL All-Star Game (2011).
Before moving to Astana, he spent the 2021/2022 season at PARMA-PARI, where he played 14 matches and scored 192 points in the VTB United League.
