UNICS is a Russian professional men's basketball club based in Kazan, founded in 1991. In addition to the VTB United League, this season it participates in the Euroleague.

Kazan UNICS and «Astana» met this season in mid-November in Kazan. Then our opponents won with a score of 71:59. Before that meeting, Kazan was confidently going through the tournament, losing only one of six games. After that, they acted no less effectively, having confidently dealt with «Tsmoki-Minsk» away and at home, leaving no chance for Kalev. Yet UNICS did not win all of their subsequent games – in St. Petersburg, they lost quite a lot to the local “Zenit” at the end of the calendar year. In the new year, Kazan has not yet experienced the bitterness of defeat, although their victory cannot be called very confident: +6 at home with «Nizhny», +5 away with «Zielona Gora», and the match in Moscow with CSKA stands apart — a two-point victory in the third overtime. And yet UNICS finished the last match at home against «Enisey» with a confident +20. The Kazan team now occupies the first line in the VTB United League table with 12 wins and 2 losses. Let us not forget that UNICS plays in parallel in the Euroleague, where since mid-November (meeting with «Astana») has already played fifteen games, of which it has been successful in nine. At the same time, Kazan coped with such giants as «Zalgiris», «Milan», «Alba», «Red Star», «Maccabi Tel Aviv», «Anadolu Efes», «Barcelona» and CSKA.
Roster changes: There have been no changes in UNICS Kazan since the match against «Astana» in November.
Rival leaders: Croatian Mario Hezonja, who is also called “Super Mario”, is the key leader of UNICS at the moment. He is a leader in both efficiency and effectiveness.
