Presidential Basketball Club «Astana» announces signing a contract with an American guard, Isaiah Whitehead.
Isaiah Whitehead was born March 8, 1995, in Brooklyn, New York, USA, an American professional basketball player performing as a guard.
Isaiah attended Abraham Lincoln High School in Brooklyn. In the school’s graduating class in 2014, he received invitations to participate in McDonald’s All-American and Jordan Brand Classic exhibition matches. In the 2013/2014 season, Isaiah scored 23.6 points average, gave 5.4 assists and grabbed 6.8 rebounds. His game was highly appreciated by 247Sports.com scouts. Whitehead was recognized as Mr. 2014 New York State Basketball. After school, Isaiah chose the basketball program at the University of Seton Hall, which is located in the city of South Orange in the state of New Jersey. He was recognized as the preseason rookie of the year at the Big East Conference. At the end of the 2014/2015 season, he was included in the rookie team of the Big East Conference. Seton Hall, led by Isaiah Whitehead, won the Big East Conference Championship for the first time since 1993 in the 2015/2016 season. The player himself was recognized as the most valuable player in the tournament of the Big East Conference. Whitehead unanimously was invited in the first Big East Conference team. In March 2016, Isaiah Whitehead announced that he would participate in the 2016 NBA draft, on June 23, 2016, he was selected under the 42nd number by the Utah Jazz team. The next day, he was exchanged at Brooklyn Nets for rights from a draft for Marcus Page and a cash reward. On July 8, 2016, Isaiah signed a contract with Nets. He played for the team from Brooklyn in the 2016 NBA Summer League. On January 6, 2017, in a match against the Cleveland Cavaliers, Whitehead made his first double-double in his career with 10 points and 10 rebounds. On March 10, 2017, in the game against the Dallas Mavericks, for the first time in his career, he crossed the 24-point mark. On April 8, 2017, in a match against Chicago Bulls, Isaiah Whitehead set up one block shot, which became 38 for him this season. Isaiah took part in the 2017 NBA Summer League. On November 27, 2017, in a game against Houston Rockets, the player repeated his personal performance record, which is 24 points. During the 2017/2018 season, Isaiah Whitehead has repeatedly played for the NBA Long Island Nets Development League club. On February 25, 2018, in a duel against Greensboro Sorm, Isaiah became the first player in Long Island history to score 52 points.
On August 6, 2018, Isaiah Whitehead signed an agreement with the Krasnodar club «Lokomotiv-Kuban» participating in the VTB United League for one season. On January 7, 2019, Isaiah and the Krasnodar club terminated the contract by mutual agreement of both parties. The player defended the colors of «Lokomotiv-Kuban» in 8 matches of the European Cup and in 8 games of VTB United League. On January 15, 2019, Isaiah signed a contract with the Detroit Pistons.
