In Almaty, a series of games of the Kazakhstan Championship in basketball among the men's teams of the National League has ended. Capital basketball club beat the local «Almaty Legion» in two matches.
Despite the victory of «Astana», the first match turned out to be quite intense. The hosts were able to impose the fight on “Astana” and introduced intrigue in the match. Almost throughout the whole game, there was an equal fight. In the final period, the current champion of the country secured an advantage of +10 points, and to catch up with the opponent was already impossible. The match ended with a score of 80:90 in favor of «Astana».
The best players of the match: Anthony Clemmons scored 19 points, Vadim Scherbak brought the team 12 points, Alexander Zhigulin and Dmitry Gavrilov scored 11 points each.
The second game day was no longer as intriguing as the previous one. From the first minutes of the match, the team of Emil Raikovich seized the initiative and began to actively attack the opponent's ring. The score on the scoreboard following the first half of the game is 27:39 in favor of «Astana». After a long break, the situation has not changed. With each throw, «Astana» team took the lead, and it was too much for «Almaty Legion» to catch up with the rival. The game ended with a score of 58:83 (“Astana”).
The best players of the match: Alexander Zhigulin — 16 points and Kenneth Horton — 13 points.
