«Astana» jets off to Aktau

On March 14 and 15, Aktau will host a series of games of the regular Kazakhstan Basketball Championship among men's teams of the National League.

For Astana players, these games will be final in the regular season. In April the playoffs of the National League of Kazakhstan will have been started.

Our club met with the team from Aktau in Astana within the framework of the regular Championship and as well as in the Kazakhstan Cup, where the capital's team celebrated the victory in all games without reservation.

The acting head coach of BC «Astana», Mikhail Karpenko commented on the games:
- Games against «Caspian» do not solve anything from the tournament point of view for us, we have already secured the first place in the regular season. Most likely they are important for the «Caspian», which have the opportunity to try to compete for the second place in the standings. «Caspian» is always trying to play at maximum with the support of its fans. We will try to use these games to prepare for the next matches of the VTB League, which will be held in Nizhny Novgorod. I always will come to Aktau with a special feeling and go on the court to play against the «Caspian», because I have spent three seasons in this club, for me this club is not a stranger. Now in Aktau is building a new team, head coach Evgeni Isakov is working to ensure that in the future this club was one of the leaders of the national league. There are a lot of young players, natives of Aktau, pupils of the club, there are also experienced players like Pavel Mikheev, Dmitry Sviridov, the leader of the team, the ultimate leader Azim Yagodkin, the whole team plays with full dedication. Our task is to find a connection on the court and team up so that it helps us to resist «Nizhny Novgorod» on the road next Sunday. Of course, we will only play to win and make our fans happy with a bright game.
