Cup of the Republic of Kazakhstan is the National basketball tournament among men's teams, initiated by the National Basketball Federation of the Republic of Kazakhstan in 2003.
In 2023, the Cup of the Republic of Kazakhstan in basketball among men's teams will be held from February 6 to 11 in the city of Atyrau, on the home ground of the current trophy holders of the Barsy Atyrau Basketball Club, in the arena of the Jusan Arena sports complex.
System and timing:
The tournament is held in two stages:
- Group stage
- Playoffs
1st stage - Group stage:
Teams are divided into 2 groups - "A" and "B", 3 teams in each group. Teams play 1 round, one game each among themselves within their groups. Based on the results of the Group Stage, teams distribute places from 1st to 3rd in their groups.
2nd stage - Playoffs:
1/2 finals:
In the semi-finals, the teams that took the 1st and 2nd places in their groups according to the results of the Group Stage, form the following semi-final pairs: A1-B2 and B1-A2. In the semi-finals, teams play one game in their pairs.
The final:
The winners of the semi-finals play for 1st place. Teams that lose in the semi-finals play for 3rd place. In the final and the match for 3rd place, teams play one game in pairs.
Teams that take 3rd place in their groups according to the results of the Group Stage will compete for 5th place in a series of two matches. If, following the results of two matches of the 5th place draw, the teams have the same goal difference, then at the end of regular time in the second match, the teams play overtime. The winner of the first and only overtime is the winner of the semi-final series.
