Astana’s road trip in the FIBA WASL West Asia League continues on 11 February, with a big one in Beirut against Al Riyadi. Tip-off is set for 23:45 Astana time.
This is Astana’s second game on the road, and it doesn’t get much bigger. Al Riyadi are the reigning WASL champions, three-time winners of the competition, and the most successful club in Lebanon with 38 league titles. They’re one of the benchmark teams in the region — deep, experienced, and always in the conversation when trophies are on the line.
The two sides have already built a real rivalry in a short space of time. They’ve met four times and the series is tied 2–2. Astana got the first win in the Final 8 third-place game (94–90), before Al Riyadi responded with two Final 8 group-stage wins — 101–69 in 2024 and 93–58 in 2025.
This season, Astana struck back again, beating Al Riyadi 86–72 in the regular season and bringing an end to a winning streak that had run since March 2023.
Astana travel in good shape, with E.J. Day setting the tone at point guard and averaging around 8.8 assists per game. Adas Juškevičius has been a consistent scoring option (17.8 points per game) and a calm voice for the group, while Robert Pan continues to do a bit of everything — scoring, rebounding (8.8 per game), and giving the team a reliable presence on both ends.
Al Riyadi, meanwhile, are loaded with talent and know how to punish mistakes. Perrin Buford has been one of their main drivers (about 18 points and 7.7 rebounds per game), and Ali Mansour has been the key playmaker, averaging 5.5 assists.
It’s a classic setup: Astana looking to back up what they’ve done so far this season, and Al Riyadi looking to answer at home. The game will be played at Nouhad Nawfal Stadium, starting at at 23:45 Astana time.
