Astana wrapped up December by defending their home court, taking two wins over Almaty Legion in the Kazakhstan National League.

In the first game, the hosts came out with energy and immediately set the tone. Astana controlled the pace from the start, built an early lead, and never let it slip, closing the night with an 82–72 victory (25:11, 24:21, 19:23, 14:17).

Askar Maidyekin led the way with 22 points and 5 rebounds, while Robert Pan added 13 points and 9 boards. Vadim Shcherbak also had a strong all-around game, finishing with 12 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists.

The second matchup was tighter in the first half, with Almaty Legion keeping the pressure on. After the break, Astana raised their defensive intensity and found more rhythm on offence. A strong fourth quarter proved decisive, as the hosts pulled away for a 90–74 win (20:24, 16:18, 20:15, 30:21).

This time, Robert Pan topped the scoring with 20 points and 5 rebounds, followed by Askar Maidyekin (15 points, 6 rebounds) and Vadim Shcherbak (12 points, 5 rebounds). E.J. Day chipped in with 10 points and 4 assists, helping steady the team down the stretch.

The two home wins against a familiar rival helped Astana strengthen their position in the standings and confirmed the team’s consistency at this stage of the season. These games also closed out Astana’s 2025 schedule. The team returns to action on 15 January, when they host Gorgan in the West Asia Super League.
