Astana wrapped up a successful road series in Aktau, earning two victories over Caspiy in the latest round of the Kazakhstan National League — 71:97 and 63:75.
The first game went noticeably smoother for the visitors. It also marked the return of E.J. Day after injury. The opening quarter was evenly matched (20:21), but from the second period onward Astana took full control. By halftime, the team had built a 10-point lead, and after the break continued to dictate the pace: the third quarter ended 20:27, and the fourth 15:23, sealing a confident 71:97 win. Standout performers included Askar Maidyekin (20 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists), Adas Juškevičius (19 points, 6 assists, 3 rebounds), E.J. Day (14 points, 2 assists), Robert Pan (12 points, 6 assists, 3 rebounds), and Ruslan Aitkali (12 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists).
The second game was more tightly contested and much lower-scoring. Caspiy controlled the first half, but the momentum shifted dramatically in the third quarter when Astana delivered a decisive 17-point run. The final quarter was played on equal terms (16:16), but that explosive stretch allowed Astana to secure a 63:75 win. The top contributors were Adas Juškevičius (22 points, 3 rebounds) and Alexander Zhigulin (13 points, 4 rebounds). E.J. Day recorded a remarkable double-double — 13 points, 13 assists, 3 rebounds.
The team now returns to the capital to prepare for its next FIBA WASL West Asia League match against the champions of Lebanon, Al Riyadi. The game will take place on 10 December at 20:45.
