PBC Astana and the Alzhan Public Fund have signed a memorandum of cooperation aimed at fostering the promotion and further development of basketball in Kazakhstan. As part of the agreement, both parties will collaborate to strengthen the sporting framework, focusing on the training of referees, coaches, and players.

The Alzhan Public Fund has already launched a large-scale project—the Alzhan School Basketball League, covering cities such as Semey, Aktobe, Khromtau, Pavlodar, Rudny, and Lisakovsk. Lasting several months, the tournament brought together over 700 students from 60 schools, providing an excellent platform for identifying and nurturing young basketball talent across the country.

As part of this partnership, PBC Astana will conduct a series of training seminars for referees, referee-secretaries, and coaches, which will be held in Kostanay, Aktobe, Pavlodar, and Semey. Additionally, the club will evaluate top players from the Alzhan School League for potential inclusion in the Astana system.

Comment from Samson Arakelyan, General Director of PBC Astana:

*»We are excited about the opportunities that this partnership with the Alzhan School League will bring. This memorandum is an important step toward the development of basketball in Kazakhstan and the support of young athletes. Moreover, it provides an excellent opportunity for talented players to attract the attention of PBC Astana’s coaches and potentially join the club’s system. History has shown that players like Sarsengaliyev, Simonov, Medovskoy, and Orazbekov were first recognized in school leagues. Today, they proudly represent Astana and the national team on the international stage. This collaboration will provide many young athletes with the opportunity to showcase their skills and earn a place at the country’s top basketball club.»

Comment from Marat Shakirov, Head of the Alzhan Public Fund:

«Signing a memorandum with PBC Astana is a crucial step in the development of youth basketball in Kazakhstan. We are confident that our joint efforts will open up new opportunities for young athletes, helping them grow and achieve great results. Our priority is to build a strong foundation for the development of basketball culture in the country, and partnering with Kazakhstan’s leading club provides a significant boost to this process. Together, we can elevate youth basketball to a new level!»
