Astana played the first match in the Cup of Kazakhstan, defeating Kostanay Tobol.
Let us briefly remind the fans of a few essential points: all the Cup games are held in Atyrau (since Barsy currently holds the trophy, only Kazakhstani basketball players participate in the tournament.
Six teams participating in the Cup were split into two groups, each playing one game with another once. Tobol and Almaty IRBIS were in the same group as Astana. Another trio includes Aktobe, Barsy Atyrau, and Almaty Legion 2, which plays in the Major League.
As we wrote earlier, the first game of Astana ended in victory — the team of Oleg Kiselev won Tobol with a score of 90:76. Kostanay players, who lost in the second match in a row, closed the standings of group A.
Captain Rustam Murzagaliev (22 points, 3 rebounds, 8 assists, 4 steals), Oleg Balashov (16 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists), and Maxim Marchuk (13 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists) became the leaders of the capital club.
In the second match today, Barsy Atyrau minimally outplayed Aktobe (69:68) in group B.
Now Astana will play with Almaty IRBIS; the game will take place on February 8 and start at 17:00 Astana time.
