Alzhan Zharmukhamedov passed away
Today, at the age of 79, the legendary Kazakh basketball player Alzhan Zharmukhamedov passed away.
The center spent almost his entire playing career in CSKA Moscow. Among his many achievements, ten victories in the USSR championship and a win in the 1971 FIBA Champions Cup are worth noting.
As part of the USSR national team, the player became the first Kazakh Olympic champion, winning the gold in Munich in 1972. In addition, Zharmukhamedov is a bronze medalist of the Games in Montreal (1976), a three-time European champion (1967, 1971, 1979), and a winner of the Universiade (1970).
After the end of his playing career, he continued to contribute to the development of basketball, including in Kazakhstan. In 2018, Alzhan Musurbekovich visited Astana and held a master class for the Club's Academy students.
