Thanks for the season!

The 10th anniversary season of the «Astana» basketball club has come to an end. Of course, we all hoped that it would be more successful for the capital team. But sport is sport after all, and even though not all of our plans were destined to come true this year, we believe that the major victories are ahead of us. Now is the time to turn this page of the club's history, overcoming the ten-year milestone, learn from mistakes and confidently move on. And before we say goodbye, we want to express our deepest gratitude to everyone for the season!

First of all, we would like thank our loyal fans! By far, we missed your support at home matches the most. But we always remember who we are playing for, in every match we feel your support and we know that we are never alone. Your emotions give us energy to overcome the most difficult challenges. You are always with us, both in times of success and in times of failure. Thank you for this indescribable feeling!



This season, as before, an excellent team has gathered under the yellow-turquoise banner of «Astana», which has become a real family. We had a common goal, and together we confidently had been aiming for it. Yes, we made mistakes, but we corrected them and moved on. Despite all the difficulties, limitations and trials associated with the coronavirus pandemic, which the team bravely overcame for eight months, we managed to defend the championship title of the National League and win two Cups of Kazakhstan. A separate reason for pride is undoubtedly the involvement of our club in the successful performance of the National Team in the Qualification for the Asian Cup 2021.

We thank each of the players! Thanks to all the foreign players — Jeremiah Hill, Adonis Thomas, Ojars Silins, Michael Thompson, Erik Buckner, Martins Meyers and Devin Marble for a new impulse and contribution to the development of the team and all Kazakhstani basketball. We wish you further career growth and achievement of new heights. Thanks to all Kazakhstani players — team captain Rustam Murzagaliev, Anton Ponomarev, Maxim Marchuk, Dmitry Gavrilov, Nikolai Bazhin, Vadim Shcherbak, Ruslan Aitkali, Askar Maidekin, Robert Pan and Andrey Litvinenko. We wish you a good rest and gain strength before preparing for the new season.



We thank the coaching staff and team staff — thanks to the head coach Emil Rajkovic, coaches Marko Velickovic and Sasho Todorovsky for the work they have done. Thanks to Dr. Damir Abildin and massage therapist Tamerlan Batyrgaliev for saving our guys from injuries and always keeping them in shape. Special thanks to the entire coaching staff of the team for the work done in the preparation of the National team for the qualifying matches for the Asian Cup 2021.

We would like to thank the management and all employees of the club, as well as our reliable partners for the well-coordinated work and invaluable contribution to the development of the club and the team, without which the achievement of the set goals would be impossible. The club expresses its gratitude to the technical partner — JSC «Transtelecom», the company «RG Brands» with the trademark of drinking water «ASU», as well as the basketball store «Easy Bounce» and the Kazakh entrepreneur Beybit Alibekov for active participation in the popularization of the club and support throughout the season.



Friends, we are confident that next season everything will turn out better and together we will make every effort to achieve this goal. And now we are leaving, but not for long. We are leaving to return with renewed vigour and reaffirm the proud title of the best team in the country. See you in the new season!
