Congratulations to all the fans of the basketball club «Astana» on the ninth champion title of the National League! In the third match of the final series, the capital team again defeated «Barsy Atyrau» and defended the title of the strongest team in the country.
At the start of the game, the hosts regularly pulled ahead, but our guys were on the spot and parried rival's attacks in a timely manner. The balance in the game was brought by Askar Maidekin, Oyars Silins, Vadim Shcherbak and Dmitry Gavrilov, who, by the way, for the first time in this game brought our team forward. Thus, by the middle of the quarter, the advantage of “Astana” was only 4 points. Dmitry Gavrilov and Ojars Silins kept the initiative of the capital's team with their effective attacks, and at the end of the ten-minute Nikolay Bazhin, Jeremiah Hill and Rustam Murzagaliev opened their scores in this match. At the beginning of the third period, “Barsy Atyrau” reached the minimum lag of one point, but first Vadim Shcherbak, and then Dmitry Gavrilov did not allow rivals to come forward or at least catch up with “Astana”. The next points of Silins and Gavrilov increased the advantage of our team to 8, but in the middle of the third period the teams were separated by only five points and the game was very intense. In the second half, our team's game improved, especially in defence, because in more than five minutes the yellow-turquoise did not allow the opponents to score a single point, and as part of our team, Silins, Murzagaliev, Pan and Bazhin scored their own scores… Before the final ten minutes, “Astana” had a comfortable handicap of 17 points — 50:67. By the way, it is worth noting that in the third period our team's score was three times more and they conceded only 7 points. In the fourth quarter, the mood of our team could not be other than of rejoice, at the start of the period our team began to effectively eliminate any chances of their opponents to come back. The advantage grew rather quickly and after the next points from Nikolay Bazhin the difference exceeded 20. Then, after effective attacks performed by Silins, Maidekin and Marchuk, the gap was already quite decent 25 points, and there were only 6 minutes left to play. In fact, “Barsy Atyrau” no longer had the opportunity to somehow influence the outcome of the game, and “Astana” was confidently moving towards its ninth champion title. In the last minutes of the match, Askar Maidekin, Maxim Marchuk and Andrey Litvinenko managed to score points, and Ruslan Aitkali chalked up not only the last points in this game, but also the last points of «Astana» in the 2020/2021 season. As a result, our team won a landslide victory with a score of 65:88.
