«Astana» basketball team will play their second match in the group stage of the West Asian Super League Finals in Dubai.

They will play against «Shahrdari Gorgan,» an Iranian basketball club. It was founded in 1969 and, despite average results in the 2000s, has been dominating in recent seasons in its home country, winning three consecutive championship titles in 2021, 2022, and 2023.

The team qualified for the Final Eight stage by finishing first in the West Asian League group and defeating «Zob Ahan» in the semifinals. However, «Shahrdari Gorgan» lost to the Lebanese team «Al-Riyadi» afterward. In the current tournament, the Iranian club started with a defeat against «Kuwait» with a score of 85-95.

However, «Astana» performed well in the match's final moments, managing to catch up with the opponents and eventually take the lead. The final score was 87-81 in favor of the Kazakhstani team.
