Astana played another match on the road in the VTB United League.
The duel in Minsk against the team of the same name ended with the victory of the team of Oleg Kiselyov — 76:65.
The heroes of the match were Kwame Won (15 points), Valery Likhodey (14 points, 8 rebounds), Markell Johnson (13 points), and Daniil Aksenov (8 points, 5 assists). It is worth noting Michael Myers (13 points, 9 rebounds), recovered from an injury that forced him to miss previous games.
“Firstly, I would like to congratulate the opponent on a well-deserved victory. The game definitely was super important. But, unfortunately, Astana looked better today. There are many explanations, but I do not want to explore these nuances and difficulties. As for the game: 17 turnovers is too much for a match with a direct competitor, who, in my opinion, does not excel us in individual skill. Nothing changes: someone has to take responsibility and implement the attacks. 65 points for a positive result is too little. The level of the VTB United League shows that you need to consistently be able to score at least 75-80 points to compete for victories. Unfortunately, today we did not find a person who could consistently bring points to the team.” MINSK head coach Rostislav Vergun noted at a press conference.
Astana will play the following matches on December 28-29 at the home Saryarka cycle track, where Kostanay Tobol will arrive as part of the National League series.
