The roster of the Atyrau team has noticeably changed since last season. Firstly, “Barsy Atyrau” completely changed  thier “foreign squad”. The team was left by the Americans Edward Carter III and Ryan Cook, as well as the Russians Pavel Sizov and Evgeny Marinin. Their place at the beginning of the season was taken by two Americans and a Belarusian. American forward Aaron Harris began his career in 2018 in the NBA Development League with Wisconsin Heard and then moved to Europe, where he played in Finland's «Tampereen Pyrinto» and Norway's «Tromsø Storm». Last season he spent in Macedonia as part of «MZT Skopje Aerodrom». Another American a guard Jordan Watson, after a career in college basketball, spent only one season at the professional level. As part of the Armenian team “DVIN”, he became the silver medalist of Armenia. The young Belarusian power forward does not have much experience, and has only one season under his belt. Until last New Year, he played for the Russian team «Kupol-Rodniki», and spent the rest of the season with «Tsmoki-Minsk» and, by the way, played against «Astana» in April.

Oleg Balashov moved from the Kazakh base of “Barsy” last season to our team, and Askar Akhmetzhan went to “Tobol”. Vladimir Ivanov, Merey Uapov, Rustam Utegen, Marat Adilkhan, Alexey Alenushka, Diaz Arykov, as well as the young Ernar Zheksenbaev have extended their contracts with the Atyrau team, and Turlan Satybaldiev has been added from the farm team. The main acquisition among the Kazakhs was forward Roman Marchuk, who was once a member of «Astana». In addition, the team was joined by a power forward Kairat Raimov, who last season defended the colors of the Pavlodar team “Ertis”.

Also, “Barsy” has changed the coaching staff. After two seasons, the head coach, a Lithuanian specialist Arnis Vecvagars, left the team as well as the assistant coach from Russia Viktor Uskov. Armenian specialist Tigran Gokchan became the new mentor of the green-whites. He started as an assistant coach of the Lebanese “Hekmeh”, and in recent seasons he coached the Armenian teams “Aragats” and “DVIN”. He was also at the helm of the Armenian national team, with which he won the European Championship among small countries, and also led the Lebanese women's team. He will be assisted by the Serb Ognen Molievic, who previously was a part of the coaching staffs of the Armenian “Vahakni City” and “Artik”, the Saudi “Al-Ittihad”, the Iraqi “Nift Al-Basra”, “Al-Ahli” from Bahrain and the Kuwaiti “Al-Jahraa”.

The matches will be held on September 26 and 27 in Atyrau at the «Jysan Arena”. The matches start at 18:00 Nur-Sultan time. Online broadcast of the match will be available on the main page of our website.
