Anthony Clemmons commented on the grant of Kazakhstan citizenship and the opportunity to play for the Men's National Team in the Asian qualification for the 2019 World Basketball Championship.
«I am truly grateful that the country of Kazakhstan has welcomed me to be a part of their culture. Coming back for my second season I knew this was part of the deal and I couldn’t resist but to say yes to be a part this culture. I thank God for allowing this opportunity and process to be smoothly and I also thank my teammates, coaches, and the management that helped me want to be here. Having this passport means a lot to me and my future moving forward. I am honor to be a part of this country and I will forsure represent Kazakhstan to the best of my ability.
Now that I have the passport and can be with the national team I plan on giving this country the excitement of basketball that they have been waiting for. I am familiar with everyone who plays so I think joining will be no problem. So my goal is to represent and to play my heart out every game whether it’s a win or lost. I know I will being playing for Kazakhstan so I want to show the country that I am here to make things better.

On December 13, 2018, on the eve of Independence Day of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the leadership of the National Basketball Federation met with the players of the Men's National Basketball Team.
On the occasion of the main holiday of the country, the players were given memorable gifts and expressed support and gratitude for their good performance at the Asian qualification for the 2019 World Basketball Championship.
After the congratulatory speech, the President of the NBF of Kazakhstan, Dimash Dosanov, presented the Kazakhstan passport to Anthony Clemmons, an American basketball player, a guard of «Astana» Presidential Basketball Club, who now became a new player of the National Team.
